Those of you following this blog will confirm that I have gone silent for a couple of weeks. But that does not mean I have not been productive.
Years ago I bought a series of kits in Hawaii that, when finished, make a lovely wall hanging featuring a numbers of tropical flowers. This extended cruise with its many sea days made the perfect time to get started. Here’s a picture of what will be the finished project:
Size of the project is 45” by 74”
Each of the eight floral blocks has a central motif that is further enhanced by sashiko embroidery, and there are four smaller blocks that only have sashiko. Those four are done, and I have completed the appliqué on five of the six floral blocks. Currently I am doing the appliqué on the largest block, the one in the center. There is one remaining block that I cannot make progress on, as the kit included the wrong fabric. I’ve been in touch with the designer, who has promised me replacement fabrics that will be waiting for me at home.
It’s good to have something to show for my idle hours at sea.
Beautiful, you do such nice work!
